The Company

Who are we? We're Clixtr (not Clixter, Clickstr, Clixstr, or even Clixster) and we turn your smartphone into a smartcamera! Since October 2008 we've been working hard to surprise and delight our users, snapping photos, and sharing events along the way. We received seed funding from DFJ in Menlo Park in March 2009, and we launched our first product at TechCrunch50 2009.

We provide a (patent-pending) platform for our users to create group photo-sharing albums which are geo-tagged. Clixtr gives users the ability to share their photos via the Clixtr mobile app in real time with friends and family as well as allow users to watch events unfold from around the corner and around the world. Additionally, users can upload content through the Clixtr website or watch event photo streams.

In December 2009, we received an Emerging Technology award for Social Networking from the Silicon Valley Business Journal. In January 2010, we won the Mobile Apps Showdown at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Jobs

Clixtr is looking for a Software Engineer to become a key member of our team

Clixtr Inc. is a venture backed startup based in San Francisco. Our vision is to turn smartphones into smartcameras by leveraging location based technologies and the rapidly improving quality of camera phones. Using the Clixtr iPhone app or website, our users create events, upload mobile photos, and create real-time event photo streams to share with users around them. Photos and events are public and can be followed live on the web or directly on mobile devices.

We received seed funding from DFJ and launched our first product (iPhone App) in September at TechCrunch 50. Since then, we have launched our web product and have continued to improve our core technology. We have received industry recognition by winning several accolades. Locally, we were presented with an Emerging Technology award from the San Jose Business Journal. Nationally, we were recognized as the Winner of the Mobile Apps Showdown at the 2010 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

We are a small and passionate team of five. Our office is located in San Francisco's SOMA District. We are followers of the lean startup philosophy and practice Agile Development. We are interested in meeting people with expertise in Rails development and restful APIs to support mobile and web front-ends. This is a full-time position and includes compensation in the form of salary and equity.

About You

You are a talented, self motivated engineer who is ready to join a fast growing startup. You are experienced in a wide variety of development environments. You have the skills necessary to work in a Rails Environment in support of a restful API consumed by web and mobile platforms. You have had the opportunity to apply your talent to real-world projects (perhaps for a larger company) and are ready for the unique opportunity that only a Silicon Valley startup can provide. You have the desire to be a part of a team where you can quickly become a key player and can help drive a product forward. You are excited by the prospect of using agile methods in the real world. Like us, you live for this stuff.

Next Steps

Send us an email (as well as a resume, link to a portfolio, blog, Stack Overflow profile, or whatever else might impress us), and we will respond with a questionnaire that will cover the standard generic interview questions. If it seems like there may be a good fit, we'll invite you out for Coffee, get to know you a bit, and talk about your technical qualifications. If we both feel good about working together, we'll invite you to interview with the rest of our team.
